Biography
Antithetical to their Catholic school upbringing in Orange County, CA, twin brothers Joe (vocals) and John Arnold (guitar) formed Cerebellion in 2009 with the concept of societal change by challenging one’s own personal beliefs. Achieving the rare balance of technical proficiency and massive poppy hooks, the group delivers a punishing yet melodic sound in the vein of bands like Demon Hunter, All That Remains, and Avenged Sevenfold. “You hear something real in their sound that is often missing from music today” – Jesse Cannon, Noise Creators. With bassist Marc Battung and drummer Jimmy Schultz, the quartet has been turning heads releasing music and doing regional touring since 2010.
The band released its 2010 debut album Inalienable, a 12-song album that was nominated for “Best Metal Newcomer of 2010” by Metalunderground.com. The single “Just Under the Surface” became a top 10 requested song on terrestrial radio in some U.S. markets and received airplay in European markets. In 2015, the band released its sophomore effort, Regeneration, an offering that grew its fan base substantially with the single “Cold” and solidified them globally with the release of single, “Savior,” charting as a most downloaded track on iTunes Denmark. In 2020, the band released its third album, “Beyond Our Failures,” which furthered its growing audience and features two of the band’s most streamed songs, “Someone’s American Dream” and “Now or Never.” Due to the global pandemic and the band’s inability to do shows, Cerebellion continued writing and dropped a blistering EP in 2021 called “Something You Can Say,” featuring “Feel It Awake” and “Darwin Lives.” In 2022, they released a two-song acoustic release featuring an acoustic version of “Until I Can Breathe,” a single from “Something You Can Say. In August 2025, Cerebellion released its fourth album, “Seven Deadly Singles,” a collection of singles that had been released between 2022 and 2025. The deadliest among them were favorites, “To Thine Own Self Be True” and “A Better Version.” Between late 2025 and late 2026, the band released three singles, “This New Nihilism,” “Back to the Start (Reimagined),” and the latest, “Some Dreams Just Don’t Come True,” an anthemic banger with a huge groove.
As an independent artist, Cerebellion continues to defy odds, gaining notoriety as a formidable act to pay attention to in the metal world. In recent years, it has grown faster than at any point in its history and has inspired an engaged hardcore fanbase. On the live front, the band continues to play action-packed live shows in California and is looking to tour nationally and internationally in the near future.
